Hashima Island was once the most densely populated island but has been a ghost island since 1974. A group of teenagers will now step foot on this island to capture paranormal encounters on tape. On the island, the teenagers are thrilled as they explore. However, their excitement is short-lived. They realize something ominous is creeping up on them and the hair-raising truth unveils through the lens of the camera.

In this poetic, richly allegorical debut by Colombian director William Vega, a teenage girl flees to a rundown inn after being driven from her home in the Andean highlands by civil war, as the violence engulfing the country creeps ever closer to her remote refuge. (TIFF)

Henry Adler lives in Ontario by himself, regularly visits his gruff and critical father, and works in a bank; he’s also an actor. He finds new purpose in life when he’s cast as a cop in a realistic TV show. He gets into the part, borrowing the uniform from wardrobe, and walking around the city streets. Soon he’s talking to bank customers as if he’s a cop; this gets him in trouble with his boss, but Henry doesn’t care. He falls for one of the actresses, Charlie, and they practice together. Henry’s quirks and his intensity creep her out, though, and she breaks off all contact. He’s desolate. Things come to a head when one of LA’s finest mistakes Henry for a real cop.

Tom Merrick (Van Dien) works as a TV reporter when he’s nearly killed in an accident while informing about a fire in the Evanston power plant. The sight of a creepy-looking man leaving the place accidentally saves his life, when he was meant to be killed with his crew.
