Set in Budapest in 1913, when the city was considered to be at the heart of Europe. 20-year-old Irisz Leiter, arrives in the Hungarian capital after spending her younger years in an orphanage, hoping to work as a milliner in the legendary hat store that belonged to her late parents. She is suddenly confronted with her past and starts searching for answers about her family before stumbling upon dark secrets.
It’s London, 1892 and Defendant 47 is on trial but can’t remember who he is. He only can remember a few details, where he’s been lately and glimpses of the past. Defendant 47 slowly starts remembering that he’s mathematician who runs a photography studio. He now remembers that his preferred subject were children. Through them, he met Ellen Rhodes, the one who will only bring him to a dark end.
Two French policemen, one investigating a grisly murder at a remote mountain college, the other working on the desecration of a young girl’s grave by skinheads, are brought together by the clues from their respective cases. Soon after they start working together, more murders are committed, and the pair begin to discover just what dark secrets are behind the killings.
