Fifteenth film in this violent action series about young outlaws. Passionately depicts the power plays amongst loan sharks captivated by money, with the villain from the previous film GACHI-BAN WORST MAX as the protagonist. The lead is played by Arai Atsushi of the idol actor’s group D2. Reo (Arai) lost out to roving delinquent Hayato (Kubota Masataka), but continues with modeling and loan sharking. He rakes in the cash with devotee and underling Shinai (Sato Hisanori), but before long they catch the attention of the mob.

Anthropologist Max Scarry mysteriously disappears while doing excavation/research of a lost New Zealand tribe on a remote island. His wife and his twin brother Edward are clueless as to what could have happened, a situation complicated by their city’s police suspecting that one of the brothers murdered a local prostitute who was found with a strange tribal charm on her body matching one found in Max’s abandoned hut. What most certainly isn’t helping matters is the strange behavior of Max’s daughter as she seems to have visions beyond possibility, warnings of a supernatural threat and her uncle’s fate – and she’s the film’s narrator, to boot. Edward decides to go to the island to find out exactly what happened, but the deeper he goes into the mystery the more perilous and unknowable his world becomes, leading towards a shocking fate that raises more questions than it answers. In 1879, during the Zulu wars, man of the people Lt. John Chard (Stanley Baker) and snooty Lt Gonville Bromhead (Michael Caine) were in charge of defending the isolated Natal outpost of Rorke’s Drift from tribal hordes, holding out during an Alamo-like siege until they are overwhelmed, losing the battle, but going down in history as heroes. 150 soldiers defended a supply station against some 4000 Zulus, aided by the Martini-Henry rifle “with some guts behind it”. In the hundred years since the Victoria Cross was created for valour and extreme courage beyond that normally expected of the British soldier in face of the enemy only 1344 have been awarded. Eleven of these were won by the defenders of the mission station at Rorke’s Drift, Natal, January 22nd to the 23rd 1879.
