Amelia hesitantly follows her husband’s dream of heading west during the 1848 California gold rush. Sam Worthington stars as Isaac LeMay, a murderous outlaw who learns he is cursed by a prophecy: one of his children will kill him. To prevent this, he hunts down each of his estranged children including long-lost son Cal (Colson Baker). With bounty hunters and Sheriff Solomon (Thomas Jane) on his tail, LeMay must find a way to stop his children and end the curse.

In this western, a young cowboy rides out to avenge his father’s killer. Eventually, he finds the scoundrel, but by this time opts not to kill him for the cowboy has fallen in love with the outlaw’s niece. Later, the killer ends up killed and the hero is blamed for the crime.

Mark Fallon, with partner Kansas John Polly, tries to introduce honest gambling on the riverboats. His first success makes enemies of the crooked gamblers and of fair Angelique Dureau, whose necklace he won. Later in New Orleans, Mark befriends Angelique’s father, but she still affects to despise him as his gambling career brings him wealth. Duelling, tragedy, and romantic complications follow.

A posse’s pursuit of bank robbers ends with loot missing and a sheriff (Broderick Crawford) wounded.
