When Neurotic, struggling songwriter, Catherine Brown’s life in New York City falls apart, she is forced to confront her past when she spends the summer at her childhood home in Woodstock.

Beppu Sumire is a wedding planner who works for True Love Bridal (TLB), a well-established wedding hall. Her late mother, Sakura, showered love on her and would always tell her that she is lovely. After she passed away, Sumire lived with her father, Tetsuro. Sumire gave up on her own romance long ago because of her disappointing looks. But she works hard with a smile even when she gets scolded by her stern superior, Umemiya Hitomi, her impertinent junior, Sudo Yuri, pins trouble on her, and her relationship with her father is not working out, in order to bring smiles to many people’s faces.

The film follows the story of Jamie, a struggling butch lesbian actress who gets cast as a man in a film. The main plot is a romantic comedy between Jamie’s male alter-ego, “Male Jamie,” and Jill, a heterosexual woman on set. The film’s subplots include Jamie’s bisexual roommate Lola and her cat actor Howard, Lola’s abrasive butch German girlfriend Andi, and Jamie’s gay Asian friend David.

Tamara Hayes an entrepreneur dealing with the implosion of her startup and her relationship, visits her family’s apple orchard in hopes of taking a break from life. She begins to fall for her childhood best friend and now the farm manager, Will Lewis, and together they go to great lengths to keep the orchard alive. Will’s gentle encouragement reminds Tamara that home is worth fighting for – and when she reveals her secret apple pie recipe she is inspired to make one more go at a “million dollar idea”.

Samuel is an old hippie musician who settled in Formentera in the 1970s, when King Crimson and other British rock bands frequented the island. There he lives austerely, in a ramshackle house without electric light or unnecessary luxuries, and plays the banjo in a friends’ club. Until one day, after many years, he receives the unexpected visit of his daughter Anna and his grandson Marc. Anna, unemployed for some time, says she has had to accept a job in France and is forced to leave her little son on the island with grandfather Samuel.

Joe Dante directs this story of the glamour, the glitter, the magical allure of Hollywood… and not a speck of it rubs off on Miracle Pictures, where “If it’s a good picture, it’s a Miracle.” This is a hilarious tribute to the unsung heroes who grind out the B movies massacred by critics, but nursed fondly in the hearts of film fans everywhere.
