Nilgün, who is in the process of getting married, should not get married because her family was haunted by a jinn three generations ago. However, Nilgün sees such events as superstition and does not listen to what is said to her and gets married. Before long, Nilgün’s life turns into a nightmare. Nilgün and her family find themselves on a mystical and dangerous journey after the events that have been experienced, convinced by the advice of Cennet, an old magician, that someone nicknamed ‘Blind Hodja’ intervenes in the situation.

Unrest breaks out in eastern Helsinki as a Finnish family man gets hospitalized in the summer of 2015. Gangs of young people are burning down cars and public buildings, confronting the security guards and the riot police. The narrative goes backwards, towards the riots which mark the end of our movie. As the story begins, the unrest is still bubbling under, ready to explode any time. Vandalism and robbery are not uncommon in the suburbs; neither is violence towards the police and the security guards. Frustration, alienation, isolation and poverty corrode the asphalt surface of the multicultured society, otherwise relatively harmonious.

The film centers on Ukrainian surgeon Serhiy, who is captured by the Russian military forces in the conflict zone in Eastern Ukraine, and while in captivity, he is exposed to horrifying scenes of humiliation, violence and indifference toward human life. After his release, he returns to his comfortable middle-class apartment and tries to find a purpose in life by rebuilding his relationship with his daughter and ex-wife. He learns how to be a human being again, how to be a father and help his daughter, who needs his love and support.
