This leads to her becoming the star in the film of the book, the tables are turned on the guys and she is in control – leaving them with the awful prospect of having to secretly churn out sex novels for the foreseeable future.
Based loosely on the DC comic’s story arc, Oracle calls up Power Girl, asking her to rejoin The Birds of Prey. But after having a previously bad experience, Power Girl is not exactly jumping at the chance. And while on the phone having her chat, Power Girl is stuck dealing with a childlike Bizzaro Superman. A writer from New York moves to Los Angeles with his fiancé to adapt a children’s book for a Hollywood producer. A series of meetings begin between the author of the book, the director, and other actors, each having their own take on the direction of the script. The writer and his financier are constantly fighting as the work becomes more and more tiring and gruesome. Fearing medication has made him mediocre, the writer is faced with a choice between having a happy life and being a successful writer in Hollywood.

The rest of the plot focuses on Lum’s attempts to prevent the marriage. The film was directed by Mamoru Oshii who was mad at the many requests that the producer made of him to alter the movie. Rumiko Takahashi considers this film her favorite and it is the most true to the original series.
