The Asticassia School of Technology has been devastated by Norea’s rampage. The surviving students are forced to live in evacuation shelters as they wait for relief.

Maru and Kiruko head to the Ibaraki facility after Juichi gives them his car. Meanwhile, a group of new 5th years join the academy. Mimihime notices that one child called Ohma seems very lonely, and tries to make friends. But Ohma has special reasons for keeping away from the other children.

Maru and Kiruko decide to head to the Ibaraki facility of the Takahara Academy. Since it’s on the way, they agree to help Juichi confirm whether his baby is still alive. Arriving at the Walled Town, the situation is very different to what was expected.

They also see Conrad, the former leader of the Sinners research group, who explains his goals. Meanwhile, Vash and Wolfwood reach the top floor of the JuLai Tower, where Knives awaits.

Vash and Wolfwood board the massive Sandsteamer vessel to travel to their final destination, JuLai. Yet again, they are ambushed by a hail of gunfire, but this time, it’s someone Wolfwood knows.

Vash is in danger again now that ordinary townsfolk who have heard about the bounty are after him. As Vash tries to leave town, he runs into a family of heinous criminals who have broken out of prison and are now in a race to claim the bounty on his head.
