When a not-so-popular lawyer is killed on the county line, Maksville County Sheriff Alden Rockwell must reluctantly work with the newly elected Sheriff Jo Porter of the neighboring York county. Her “big city” methods clash with his “old school” ways, but when the murderer continues to strike, they must learn to set aside their differences and work together in order to stop the killer.
Between working full-time, raising a young son, and trying to maintain a relationship with her detached husband, James, Lauren Bell desperately needs some help in watching her newborn, Riley. Thinking she’s found the perfect solution, she hires her neighbor, Owen, to be their nanny. Owen is exactly what the Bells need and Lauren couldn’t be happier. It isn’t long, though, until Owen crosses the boundaries between hired help and man of the house.
Sheriff Rockwell is settling into an unwanted retirement until his old war buddy and neighboring Sheriff is mysteriously shot. When overlooked evidence points to corruption, Alden must take the investigation into his own hands or else standby while a greater evil takes over the town.
