A Miser Brothers’ Christmas is a sequel to the classic 1974 television special The Year Without a Santa Claus. The stop-motion animated special, produced by Warner Brothers Television Animation (owners of the post-1973 Rankin/Bass animated special library) and Toronto-based Cuppa Coffee Studios, premiered as part of ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas on December 13, 2008. Mickey Rooney reprised his role of Santa Claus, which originally debuted in the 1970 special Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, while George S. Irving reprised his role as the Heat Miser. Original music was written by William K. Anderson, with the exception of “Snow Miser/Heat Miser”, which was written by Maury Laws and Jules Bass for the 1974 special. Eddie Guzelian (Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch) wrote the story and Dave Barton Thomas directed. The special was nominated for the 2008 Annie Award for Best Animated Television Production.
West Point graduate lieutenant Jeff Knight meets cynicism when taking command of sergeant Michael McNamara’s tour veterans platoon in a Vietnamese trench camp. Unlike his predecessor, who hid till the end of his tour, Jeff takes charge, experiences the manual doesn’t allow coping with all realities and gets wounded. Django is a 1966 Italian spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Corbucci and starring Franco Nero in the eponymous role. The film earned a reputation as being one of the most violent films ever made up to that point and was subsequently refused a certificate in Britain until 1993, when it was eventually issued an 18 certificate. Subsequent to this the film was downgraded to a 15 certificate in 2004. Although the name is referenced in over thirty “sequels” from the time of the film’s release until the mid 1980s in an effort to capitalize on the success of the original, none of these films were official, featuring neither Corbucci nor Nero. Nero did reprise his role as Django in 1987’s Django 2: Il Grande Ritorno (Django Strikes Again), in the only official sequel to be written by Corbucci.
Steven Seagal reprises his role as Seattle undercover cop Elijah Kane in this action thriller from the True Justice series. Responding to fresh intel, Kane and his team have to intercept and neutralise the threat from terrorists attempting to offload nuclear bombs hidden in two smuggled suitcases. If that wasn’t bad enough, Kane is convinced that ‘The Ghost’ is trying to lay his hands on them.

But when a man turns up dead outside the inn where he’s staying, Yukawa begins to unravel the connections that tie the victim to the activist daughter of the innkeepers, and a precocious boy who first appears on a train—and keeps popping up. It’s a Sherlock Holmes mystery with an environmental twist, and one that should please fans of a classic whodunnit.
